Prayer Shawl Ministry
“You formed my inmost being; You knit me in my mother’s womb. I praise You, so wonderfully You made me.”
– Psalm 139:13-14
The Prayer Shawl Ministry began here at St. John Vianney in 2005 and is comprised of members who enjoy knitting and/or crocheting shawls and lapghans using their time and talents to provide these items as a reminder of God’s love. A shawl or lapghan can be given to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, a bridal or baby shower gift, friendship and love, personal achievements, or to console those who are grieving, comfort those who are ill, bring hope to those who are in despair. In the past 18 years, we have made and given away 2,500 shawls!
The group meets in the Bea Conference Room on the 4th Monday of the month (1:00-2:00 pm). Donations and yarn are always appreciated, and new members are welcome. It takes four 7 oz. skeins of yarn (Red Heart) to make one prayer shawl/lapghan. Thank you to those who have donated yarn or money in the past. Please know your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated! This ministry is connected with all the prayer shawl ministries around the world, bringing comfort and joy to those in need.
If you know of anyone who would enjoy a shawl or lapghan, please
contact Char to request one to give as a gift at no cost!
