First Holy Communion Preparation
Preparing to receive Christ in communion with our classmates!
If you have a child preparing for First Holy Communion you will find announcements and links to documents and videos you will need to help your child complete their lessons.
First Communion Preparation Schedule At-A-Glance for 2024 is below. The 2025 schedule will be released shortly:

| January 31 | Baptism Certificates Due | Any child not baptized at SJV needs to turn in a Baptismal Certificate. |

Enrichment Evenings 6:30 p.m. in the Church Required to attend one of the sessions |
Child is invited to come to one of the events along with one or both parents and family. RSVP required. |
| March 1 to March 31 | First Communion Individual Appointments |
Child and one or both parents will meet with a member of the Parish Pastoral Staff to review what has been learned. You will receive an email in late February with instructions on making this appointment. |
| May 4 | Jesus Day 12:15 pm Mass until approx. 2:30 pm |
This is a required retreat afternoon for the child and parent(s). We will reflect on the Eucharist during this time through various activities. Sign in will be in the Gathering Area. |
| May 9 | First Communion Rehearsal 6:00-7:00 |
This rehearsal is mandatory for all children participating in the Large Group Ceremony. Begin in the Church, with each child in their assigned seat. |
| May 10 | First Communion Ceremony 10 am Large Group 4:00 pm Small Group |
First Communion will take place in the Church beginning promptly at 10:00 a.m. Children are to be in their seats in the Chapel no later than 30 minutes prior to Mass. Parents are to drop them off and go to the Church or Gathering Area. Children will be picked up after Mass in the lobby. Certificates will be in the Chapel on their assigned seat before Mass. |
