Social Justice Committee

“Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame and blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you.”– Luke 14, 13 – 14

The Social Justice Committee’s mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus in serving the needs of the most vulnerable and voiceless in our society. We strive to inform, educate, make aware and empower parishioners and the wider community in the Catholic social teachings by promoting justice and peace to all; especially the underserved. Anyone with a desire to spread the good news of justice and peace in serving the body of Christ, is welcome to join our committee.

Social Justice issues discussed and enacted upon include the following: Project Hope for the Homeless, Fair Trade Sale, Human Trafficking, Socks for Seniors, Jail ministry, Payday Lending, Womankind, Fracking, Immigrant Reform and other social issues.

This ministry supports, coordinates, and sometimes initiates actions by parishioners to bring about social change.

“We are called to transform our hearts and our social structures to renew the face of the earth. We cannot celebrate a faith we do not practice. We cannot proclaim a Gospel we do not live.” — U.S. Catholic Bishops, A Century of Catholic Social Teaching.
