What is Alpha?

Alpha is a unique “meet-you-where-you-are” course. Adults of any age or background can benefit from the relaxed atmosphere and low-pressure setting. It’s a lot like dinner and a movie with friends. Alpha is a great way to bring friends and family to the Lord. Come on the course with them! Your journey through Alpha is sure to be rewarding.

What Happens at Alpha?

A typical evening consists of a meal, a short talk about the Christian faith, and small group discussion.

At Alpha there are talks on topics such as:

  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • Why and how should I read the Bible?
  • Why and how do I pray?
  • What does the Holy Spirit do?
  • How can I overcome evil?
  • Why and how should I tell others?
  • How does God heal today?
  • What about the church?

Alpha participants are assigned to a small group and after each talk people have an opportunity to express their opinions, to ask questions, and discuss issues that are raised. Many friendships are begun as group members learn and share together.

The Alpha course meets once each week for ten weeks.

Walk-ins are welcome.

Who is Alpha For?

Alpha is for everyone; but particularly people who don’t know much about Jesus or have little faith life. No question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome.

When is Alpha?

Alpha will be held at 6:30pm every Monday for 10 weeks from TBD.

Where is it?

Dinner and discussion will be held in the St John Vianney Parish Fr Kline Social Center.
