Welcome to Saint John Vianney Parish
A Message from Father Tom Johns
I have been the pastor of this wonderful parish since 1998, and I know it to be a great place to worship our loving God, to find many ways to serve others, and to meet some very nice people. I hope that you find it to be the same, and I encourage you to take an active part in the daily life of this community.
Our new church was dedicated by Bishop Anthony Pilla in September of 2002, and many people find it to be a beautiful church. The stained glass windows portray what might be called the “Parables of Mercy,” and they are wonderful reminders to us how our God is rich in mercy and compassion and how He calls us to be the same in our relationships with others. The Parable of the Good Samaritan is an excellent reminder of how we are called to be helpful to all in need.
We celebrate Mass on the weekends as a community who desires to be nourished by the Word of God and the Eucharist so that we can better live out our faith during the week. Our parish is more than a “Sunday place.” We encourage our members to strive for perfection in the practice of the Christian faith. We are to love our God and our neighbor as we love ourselves. I hope that you find the parish to be a place where you can do those things.
There are over 8,900 registered members in the parish and we are one of the largest Catholic communities in Lake County. I hope that you do not get “lost in the crowd” but always feel that you are an important and needed member of the parish. Our Director of Volunteers would be happy to meet with you to discuss ways that you can become involved in the life of the parish, and the other pastoral staff members stand ready to help you in any ways that we can.
May God bless you and your loved ones and we hope that you quickly feel at home in this community.
Please contact us if we can be of service and please be willing to make yourselves available for service to others.
Sincerely Yours,
