The Prayer Shawl Ministry
Using time and talent as a show of God’s love through us.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry began here at St. John Vianney in 2005 and is comprised of members who enjoy knitting and/or crocheting shawls and lapghans using their time and talents to provide these items as a reminder of God’s love. Ministry members offer prayers fir the person who will receive this item as they work to complete each prayer shawl/lapghan.
A shawl or lapghan can be given to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, a bridal or baby shower gift, friendship and love, personal achievements, or to console those who are grieving, comfort those who are ill, bring hope to those who are in despair.
The group meets on the 4th Monday of the month (1:00-2:00 pm). Donations and yarn are always appreciated and new members are welcome. The ministry also gratefully accepts donations. It takes four 7 oz. skeins of yarn (Red Heart) to make one prayer shawl/lapghan. Thank you to those who donated yarn or money in the past.
